Mindful Studio Practice Continues: 2 Weeks Strong!
Reblogged from creativity in motion:
I just finished Day 14 of my artist trading card adventure with Hannah Klaus Hunter's Mindful Studio Practice. I thought I would continue to share the art and my reflections from this journey with you here. This past week presented a lot of emotional expression, truthful perceptions, and challenges for me as I created each ATC inspired by Hannah's prompts and beautiful quotes.
I was touched and honored to open up my Gmail yesterday and find this post by Gretchen Miller on "Mindful Studio Practice," my workshop for 6 Degrees of Creativity 2.

You surely must be floating! This is a wonderful statement of mindful art making.
Mary Ann, Thank you–I’m taking it all in and learning much about how collaboration works. There is a wonderful sense of support in this on-line community that is fostered by Gretchen Miller’s creativity and compassion.
Hi Hannah
I have just been reading through your blog..you are a lovely writer..nice use and space of words. It is a story with a centre. And so true what you said about Med Students using the child space for their own child.I have felt like doing that at times..usually when I feel slightly out of my depth in a situation and it is an easy way out.I am reminded of the first words I really heard on entering back into Mental Health Nursing..Make every interaction a therapeutic one. At times as I’ve joked with people. I have qualified it as building a therapeutic relationship..but at times there is also the sense of just passing time not making the most of it. Its good to have worthwhile phrases embedded to call on.
The link below is the Square Metre Project I referred to on 6Degrees.

I am not sure of the origins of it..possibly my Tutor Clive Humphries developed the idea..hmm hard to acknowledge the source. Came out of Otago Polytechnic Dunedin School of Art.
Everyone who did this at Art school loved it and has used it as a springboard exercise when stuck or starting new projects. I know I started with my chicken coop and ended up with beautiful twisted vessels that held light.
Kat–I like that statement: “Make every interaction a therapeutic one.”–The intention helps to create a safe space even in the midst of what appears to be chaos. I look forward to checking out your square metre project. Thanks for the link!
