Paris Papers 1
Paris Papers 1
18.5” x 21.50”
Found papers and acrylic paint mounted on wood panel, finished with an archival matte varnish.
The Souvenir series began with simple baguette wrappers I collected in Paris. These wrappers, once containers for something delicious, became containers for memories. In French, the verb for remember is “souvenir,” which gave form to this idea. The thin, nearly translucent brown paper inspired a new process. Working with a limited palette of dark tan (the bags), white, titanium buff, and indigo, I incorporated fragments of the bags’ text alongside vintage papers containing poetry. The shapes flow rhythmically, echoing the way memories move through us, layering the past into the present.
Paris Papers 1 is custom framed in a beautiful maple wood float frame. The frame measures 20.5” x 22.75” x 2.25" and is signed on back and wired for hanging.
